8th Annual Seasons of Hope Breakfast for Imagine Raises Funds and Awareness for the Nonprofit’s Grief Support Programs
On the morning of June 6th more than 300 guests attended the 8th annual Seasons of Hope breakfast for Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss, a grief support nonprofit serving New Jersey children and their families. This year's event was held at the Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth.
Tracy Crosby, an Imagine participant who is a recently widowed mother of four young children, shared her story and spoke to the strength and support Imagine has provided her family. "I know that if my children can learn coping skills now and learn how to positively express their emotions, everything else will fall into place. Imagine teaches them that. Imagine provides a place for them to feel safe and helps them realize they are not alone in their grief," said Tracy. "I believe the world is driven by unresolved grief," said Mary Robinson, Imagine's founder and Executive Director, in her address to the crowd, "but 'imagine' something different – a world where children coping with loss grow up emotionally healthy and able to lead meaningful and productive lives...a world where grief, loss and trauma are transformed into resilience, empathy and compassion...a world where no child grieves alone. That is the world Imagine is working hard to create every day."
Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization, provides year-round grief support for children and young adults using a peer-support group model. Trained adult volunteers and professionals provide children and teens with comfort and the tools needed to process grief resulting from death or life-altering illness. In addition to providing grief support at its two centers in Mountainside and Newark, Imagine provides education in the community, leading workshops and providing on-site support in schools and workplaces where traumatic loss has occurred. Groups, which meet on weeknights, serve children and adults from more than 55 New Jersey towns.
